Bitumen polyurethane is a material obtained by combining bitumen and polyurethane, used for waterproofing and coating. Thanks to this special mixture, it provides both waterproofing and high flexibility and durability, offering an easy-to-apply and long-lasting insulation solution suitable for many surfaces. Bitumen polyurethane bridges cracks to prevent water leakage, resists extreme temperature changes, and is resistant to chemicals. Due to these features, it is frequently preferred in the construction sector, especially for waterproofing terraces, balconies, roofs, and similar areas.
Bitumer 400 2K Bitumen Polyurethane-Based Waterproofing Product
Bitumer 400 2K is a fast-curing, two-component, bitumen-enriched polyurethane-based liquid material. It adheres strongly to almost every surface, forming a highly elastic film. It has excellent chemical and mechanical resistance. It is applied by brush, roller, spatula, or airless spray machine with a minimum consumption of 1.5 kg/m².
Application Areas
Floors, foundations, roofs, green roofs, plaster and cement panels, polyurethane insulation foams, asphalt membranes/EPDM membranes, bathrooms (under tile/floor), verandas and balconies (under tile), water tanks (excluding potable water tanks), bridge decks.
Advantages
- Mixing components in equal volumes, 1:1 ratio, facilitates application.
- Fast curing.
- Thick layer application is possible without bubble formation.
- Unmixed leftover components can be stored for future use.
- Adheres excellently to almost all surfaces, with or without primer.
- Resistant to cold; film retains elasticity down to -40°C.
- Excellent mechanical properties; high elongation, tensile, tear, and abrasion resistance.
- Good chemical resistance.
- Functions effectively as a water vapor barrier.
Application Instructions
- The surface should be cleaned preferably with a high-pressure washer; oil, grease, fuel and paraffin residues must be removed, as well as mold release agents, cement residues, loose particles and cured membranes.
- Mix equal amounts of the two components manually or with a low-speed mixer (300 rpm) and apply immediately. Pot life at 20°C is 30-45 minutes.
- Apply with brush, roller, spatula, or airless spray machine.
- Rollers are single-use and should not be reused.
- Keep flammable and combustible materials away during application. No smoking.
- Ensure continuous ventilation of the application area.
- Wear protective equipment such as goggles and gloves during application.
- In case of eye contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.
- Request the Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed information.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- The product should be used by professionals, taking into account the technical data provided.
Consumption
Minimum 0.75 – 1.00 liters per m² per coat. At least two coats should be applied. Total theoretical consumption is 1.5 – 2.0 liters per m².
Storage Conditions
Store in a dry and cool place in original unopened packaging.
Shelf Life: 12 Months
Mixing Preparation
Dryfix Bitumer 400 2K; Components are first mixed separately with a low-speed mixer and then combined. The combined A+B components are mixed again for a few minutes with a low-speed mixer to be ready for use. The pot life of the prepared mixture at 20°C is 30-35 minutes and varies proportionally with changes in air temperature.
Surface Preparation
Before application, all surfaces must be free from oil, grease, paraffin residues, cement slurry, loose particles, mold release agents, cured old membranes, and any factors that weaken adhesion. The surface should be cleaned and dried, preferably with high-pressure water. Surface irregularities should be repaired with appropriate products.
Priming
For absorbent surfaces such as concrete, cement, and screed, Dryfix DFC 100 should be used (moisture must not exceed 5%). For moist surfaces, Dryfix DFC 108 is preferred as a primer. Application is done with a brush or roller, and the waiting time between coats should not exceed 48 hours.
