Carbon plate adhesive is a high-strength adhesive used especially in the construction sector for the strengthening of reinforced concrete elements. This two-component epoxy resin-based adhesive ensures the tight bonding of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) plates to concrete surfaces. As a result, the load-bearing capacity of structures is increased, cracks are repaired, and their lifespan is extended. Carbon plate adhesives are widely preferred in construction and building reinforcement sectors due to their high adhesion strength, waterproofness, and durability.
CARBON PL Epoxy-Based Carbon Plate Adhesive
CARBON PL is a two-component, solvent-free, epoxy resin-based, thixotropic specially developed adhesive and repair putty. This putty is used for bonding carbon reinforcement plates and can be easily applied on vertical surfaces without sagging.
Advantages
- Very easy to apply material.
- Water and gas impermeable.
- Can be used on vertical and overhead surfaces.
- Resistant to chemicals and abrasion.
- Excellent adhesion to concrete, wood, and steel.
- High mechanical properties.
- No primer required.
- Solvent-free.
Application Areas
Used for bonding carbon plate materials, repairing and bonding all types of concrete, stone, marble, and similar materials.
Application Properties
Surface Preparation:
The application surface must be free of all dust, dirt, weak and loose particles, cement slurry residues, oil, and grease, and must be dry. The concrete substrate must be sound and have sufficient compressive strength (at least 25 N/mm²) and tensile strength (pulloff) (at least 1.5 N/mm²). Damaged and unstable parts should be repaired with DryFiX DFR 200 (tix) to create a smooth surface.
Mixing Preparation:
The product is two-component, and mixing should be done in quantities that can be consumed within the pot life, considering the container size. Excess mixed material cannot be used after the pot life expires. After adding component B to component A, mix with a low-speed electric mixer for 2-3 minutes (300 rpm) until a homogeneous color is obtained.
Application:
While mixing and applying, wear rubber gloves and safety goggles to protect your skin and eyes. Do not add any foreign substances or water to the product. In hot weather, the product hardens quickly after mixing, so only mix the amount to be consumed. Do not apply if the temperature is below +5°C. Carbon fiber should be cut and prepared as needed. Apply DryFiX Carbon PL epoxy resin to the concrete surface with a spatula or roller. Then, manually apply the carbon fiber onto the surface coated with DryFiX Carbon PL, ensuring no air pockets remain. Use a roller or roller tool to press and remove excess putty. Repeat the process evenly on the entire surface, ensuring the epoxy putty comes to the top surface.
Warnings and Recommendations
- Use appropriate safety equipment (mask, gloves, goggles).
- Protect your eyes and face.
- Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
- Read the Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed safety information.
- Wash all tools and equipment immediately with clean water after use.
- Hardened and cured materials can be mechanically removed.
