Chamfer tape is a flexible and durable material used for waterproofing structures. Its main purpose is to prevent water leakage at the joints of building elements (e.g. the intersection of wall and floor or different wall surfaces). These are the points where water can easily penetrate and damage the structure. By applying chamfer tape to such areas, it creates a waterproof barrier and protects the structure from the negative effects of water. It also protects the integrity of the insulation by absorbing movements and expansions in the structure.
Insulation Chamfer Tape
Thermoplastic elastomer based, elastic, joint and chamfer tape used for waterproofing structural joints with polyester reinforced edges.
Advantages
- It has high elasticity.
- Quick and easy to apply.
- Resistant to chemical substances.
- It is resistant to harsh weather conditions, UV rays, impacts and bending.
- It is easily cut and can be used in all kinds of waterproofing works thanks to its welded adhesion.
- It can be easily mechanically fixed thanks to its holes.
- Thanks to its continuous elastic structure, it is resistant to all kinds of movements.
Application Areas
- Chamfers in wet areas,
- In ponds, in treatment plants,
- In the chamfers of water tanks,
- It is used to tolerate and insulate the movements in cold joints and cracks in slabs and curtains with its elastic structure.
- On balconies, parapets,
- It is used on terraces and roof ends.
Surface Preparation
The application surface should be cleaned from dust, paint, dirt, detergent, etc. and should be clean, dry, smooth and solid. Surfaces requiring repair should be repaired at least one day in advance with a suitable repair mortar.
Application
Before starting the waterproofing material application, the Chamfer Band is cut according to the area to be applied. After the first layer of the sliding based waterproofing material is applied (apply a little more for the chamfer band to settle well), the chamfer band is laid on the area to be applied and it is ensured to be embedded with the waterproofing material. After the first layer of waterproofing material has cured, the process is completed by continuing the application of the other layer of waterproofing material.
Security measures
- Appropriate protective equipment should be used during application.
- Always read the instructions for use,
- Keep away from children
- Do not approach with fire
Storage and shelf life
It can be stored for 5 years in its unopened original packaging in a cool and dry place protected from frost. Pallets should not be stacked on top of each other for long term storage.
Packaging
Available in 50 meter rolls.

What is a Chamfer Band?
Chamfer tape is a special material that plays a critical role in waterproofing applications and protects structures against water. It is used in areas with a high risk of exposure to water such as foundations, balconies, roofs and terraces. Chamfer tape prevents water leaks by preventing cracks that may occur at the corners and joints of the structures. In this way, it prolongs the life of the structure and prevents problems such as moisture and mold indoors.
Chamfer tape offers long-lasting protection by providing flexibility and durability in waterproofing projects. It is especially resistant to harsh weather conditions, providing better protection of structures from external factors. It speeds up the installation process thanks to its ease of application and adhesive properties, while providing reliable insulation with its waterproof structure. The use of chamfer tape reduces waterproofing costs, increases the energy efficiency of buildings and offers an environmentally friendly solution. With these features, chamfer tape has become an indispensable material in modern construction projects.
How to Apply a Chamfer Band?
Chamfer tape plays a critical role in waterproofing applications and is used to prevent water leaks, especially at corners and joints. When applied correctly, it extends the life of structures and increases their resistance to water. In this article, we will explain step by step how to apply chamfer tape. Here are the details:
Requirements for Chamfer Band Application
- Cleaning Materials: Brush, cloth or vacuum to clean the surface.
- Repair Mortar: For repairing cracked and damaged surfaces.
- Waterproofing Material: Spread based waterproofing product.
- Chamfer Tape: Cut to size suitable for the application area.
- Roller or Brush: For applying the waterproofing material.
Chamfer Band Application Steps
1. Surface Preparation
It is of great importance to prepare the surface before chamfer band application. The surface must be cleaned of dust, paint, dirt, detergent residue or substances that will prevent waterproofing. Make sure that the surface is clean, dry, smooth and solid. If there are cracks or damaged areas, they should be repaired at least one day in advance using repair mortar.
2. Cutting the Chamfer Band
The chamfer band is cut according to the dimensions of the area to be applied. It should be prepared to fit the corner and junction points. Care should be taken not to overcut or undercut the tape.
3. First Coat Waterproofing Material Application
The first layer of waterproofing material is applied a little too much so that the chamfer tape is well placed. This layer should be spread homogeneously on the surface and the ground to which the chamfer tape will adhere should be prepared.
4. Placement of the Chamfer Band
After the first layer of waterproofing material is applied, the chamfer tape is laid on the area to be applied. It is ensured that the tape fits exactly to the corners and joints. Then, the tape is embedded with the waterproofing material. Care should be taken to avoid air bubbles during this process.
5. Second Coat Waterproofing Material Application
The first layer of waterproofing material is expected to cure. This period usually varies according to the technical specifications of the product. After the curing period is complete, the second layer of waterproofing material is applied. This layer ensures that the chamfer band is fully protected and the waterproofing is reinforced.
6. Control and Completion
After all operations are completed, the surface is checked. Any missing or incorrectly applied areas are corrected. It is ensured that the waterproofing is homogeneous and smooth.
