Dilatation sealant is a flexible and durable material used to absorb movement and expansion of structures. Products such as BPU Seal 2K offer high elasticity and mechanical strength thanks to the combination of bitumen and polyurethane, preventing cracks and damage to structures. Its cold application and self-leveling properties make it easy to apply, while its high chemical resistance provides a long-lasting solution.
BPU SEAL 2K- Dilatation Sealant
BPU Seal 2K is a two-component, bitumen-supported polyurethane based, cold applied, highly elastic, self-leveling, dilatation and joint sealant with high mechanical and chemical resistance.
Advantages
- Mixing the components evenly in a 1:1 volume facilitates the process.
- Fast curing.
- Maintains elasticity between -40°C and +86°C.
- Self levelling, easy and fast to apply.
- Cold applied. Resistant to abrasion.
- It adheres perfectly to almost any type of surface, primed or unprimed.
- Although it does not need to be thinned, Dryfix Dfpur-355 Polyurethane Thinner can be used according to the conditions.
- It is resistant to cold. The film retains its elasticity up to -40°C.
- It has excellent mechanical properties; high elongation, tensile, tear and abrasion resistance.
- Good resistance to chemicals.
Application Areas
- Bonding of carbon plate materials
- Repair and bonding of all kinds of materials such as concrete, stone, marble
- Dilatation Dimension; Width: 5 cm, Depth: 2,5 cm can be applied to gaps.
- It can be applied up to a maximum width of 7 cm.
Warnings and Recommendations
Flammable, combustible and flammable products should be kept away during application. Smoking should be avoided. Care should be taken to ensure continuous ventilation of the application area. Protective equipment such as goggles and gloves should be used during application. In case of eye contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water. Request Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed information. Keep out of the reach of children. The product should be consumed by professional users, taking into account the data in the technical information section.
Application Features
Surface Preparations:
* The surface should be cleaned, if possible using a high pressure washer, removing oil, grease, fuel and paraffin residues, as well as mold release agents, cement residues, chips, loose particles and cured membranes.
Priming
- Df pur Primer 1K and Df pur Primer 2K for absorbent surfaces
- Dryfix Dfc 100 for hard and normal floors
Mixing:
- Apply immediately after mixing equal amounts of the two components by hand or with a mixer running at low speed (300 rpm).
- The pot life of the mixture is 30-45 minutes at 20°C.
Implementation:
- Polyethylene roving of appropriate size is placed in the joint where the sub-surface preparation has been made (repair, cleaning, priming) and masking tape has been applied on the edges, while performing this process, the width / depth: 2/1 ratio should be ensured.
- Then the prepared sealant is poured into the joint and applied. During application, the sealant should be ensured to adhere to the two opposite inner surfaces of the joint. Care should be taken not to adhere to a third surface (bottom).
- After the joint filling process is completed, the surface is leveled with a suitable spatula and the application is completed by carefully removing the masking tape.
- Packages kept for 24 hours at room temperature (+15°C-+25°C) should be opened and mixed until homogenous consistency is reached.
- Mixing must be done with a low speed mixer and a suitable tip.
- The material must be protected against water, rain, external factors and mechanical stresses until it sets.
- It should be noted that the waiting time may be shorter in hot weather and longer in cold weather.
