Polyurethane Water Tank Waterproofing Coating – DF PUR WT 2K
Water storage tanks require reliable waterproofing to prevent leakage and protect their structural integrity. Selecting a compatible protective lining is particularly important for tanks used to store drinking water.
This two-component, solvent-free polyurethane coating is designed for waterproofing and protecting water-retaining structures. Once cured, it forms a continuous, flexible barrier that adheres strongly to properly prepared substrates. Its thixotropic formulation allows controlled application on vertical and horizontal surfaces, making it suitable for concrete and metal water tanks.
For drinking water applications, the completed lining system must meet the relevant potable-water contact requirements.
Advantages
- Maintains flexibility within a service temperature range of -40°C to +90°C.
- Solvent-free, two-component polyurethane formulation.
- Strong adhesion to properly prepared substrates.
- Suitable for application in enclosed areas with adequate ventilation.
- Good resistance to various chemical exposures.
- Thixotropic consistency helps reduce sagging on vertical surfaces.
- Forms a continuous protective waterproofing layer.
Application
Suitable for waterproofing and protection of:
- Water storage tanks and reservoirs.
- Concrete and reinforced concrete water tanks.
- Steel tanks and compatible metal storage structures.
- Drinking water storage tanks, subject to the required potable-water contact approvals.
- Internal tank walls and floors requiring a protective waterproofing lining.
Warnings and Recommendations
Flammable, combustible and flammable products should be kept away during application. Smoking should be avoided. Care should be taken to ensure continuous ventilation of the application area. Protective equipment such as goggles and gloves should be used during application. In case of eye contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water. Request Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed information. Keep out of the reach of children. The product should be consumed by professional users, taking into account the data in the technical information section.
Application Instructions
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be structurally sound, clean and free from contaminants that could reduce adhesion. Remove oil, grease, fuel, paraffin residues, formwork release agents, cement laitance, loose particles and deteriorated existing coatings.
Where appropriate, clean the substrate using high-pressure water and allow it to dry according to the specified application requirements.
Priming
DryFiX DFC 100 Epoxy Primer is recommended for suitable substrates. Apply the primer according to its technical instructions and allow it to cure before proceeding.
Mixing
Combine Components A and B in the specified mixing ratio and mix thoroughly using a low-speed mechanical mixer for approximately 2–3 minutes until a uniform consistency is achieved.
The prepared mixture has a pot life of approximately 20–30 minutes at 20°C. Higher temperatures may shorten the working time, while lower temperatures may extend it.
Application
Apply the coating to the prepared and primed surface using a suitable roller or brush, ensuring uniform coverage.
A minimum of two coats is recommended for horizontal and vertical surfaces. Apply the second coat approximately 8–24 hours after the first, depending on temperature, humidity and curing conditions.
Allow the completed coating system to cure fully before filling the tank with water.
