Transparent Waterproofing Coating – Glassy 100 Liquid Glass
This two-component, clear waterproofing coating is designed to protect existing surfaces without significantly changing their original appearance. Once cured, it forms a seamless, glossy protective film that provides water resistance and decorative surface protection.
The 4 kg kit consists of 3.5 kg of Component A and 0.5 kg of Component B. Mix the components at a ratio of 7:1 by weight until a uniform consistency is achieved. Apply evenly using a suitable roller or other recommended equipment.
The finished coating creates a transparent, glass-like appearance while helping protect the underlying surface against water ingress.
Product Features
- Forms a seamless, transparent waterproofing layer.
- Provides decorative protection with a glossy finish.
- Strong adhesion to compatible, properly prepared substrates.
- Can be applied without a separate primer where surface conditions permit.
- Resistant to UV exposure and suitable outdoor weather conditions.
- Helps protect existing tiles and other compatible finishes without requiring their removal.
- Offers resistance to everyday wear and certain chemical exposures.
Applications
Suitable for transparent waterproofing and surface protection on:
- Ceramic tiles and porcelain surfaces.
- Marble, granite and natural stone.
- Concrete and other compatible mineral substrates.
- Balconies, terraces and verandas.
- Bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas.
- Suitable roof and exterior surface details.
Application to wood, PVC, metal and other non-mineral substrates requires confirmation of compatibility, adhesion and appropriate surface preparation.
Application Instructions
- Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, sound and free from oil, grease, dust, rust, detergent residues and other contaminants that could affect adhesion.
- Thoroughly clean the substrate and repair any damaged areas before application.
- Add Component B to Component A in the specified 7:1 mixing ratio by weight and mix until a uniform consistency is achieved.
- The prepared mixture has a pot life of approximately 1 hour and can be applied using a brush, roller or suitable spray equipment.
- The substrate temperature must be at least 5°C, while the ambient temperature should remain between 15°C and 35°C. Relative humidity must not exceed 80%.
- Allow approximately 24 hours between coats, following the manufacturer's application instructions.
- Two coats are recommended for optimal coverage and waterproofing performance.

Application Videos
Transparent Waterproofing for Balconies, Bathrooms and Terraces
Balconies and terraces are exposed to rain, sunlight and temperature fluctuations, which can contribute to water penetration through damaged surfaces and joints. Transparent waterproofing coatings provide an option for protecting suitable existing finishes without removing ceramic tiles or natural stone.
When applied in two coats to a properly prepared surface, the coating creates a continuous protective layer while maintaining the appearance of the original flooring.
In bathrooms and other wet areas, surface preparation is particularly important. Tiles and grout joints must be completely dry before application. Any damaged grout, cracks or failed sealing details should be repaired to ensure the waterproofing system performs as intended.
Roof Waterproofing with Transparent Coatings
Transparent liquid-applied coatings can provide waterproofing protection on compatible roof substrates and details where a clear finish is required.
Before application, concrete and other mineral surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned. Dust, loose particles and poorly adhered materials should be removed, and cracks or damaged areas must be repaired using suitable products.
The suitability of the coating for the roof's exposure conditions, drainage requirements and existing substrate should be verified before application.
Waterproofing Over Existing Tiles
Water penetration through tiled surfaces can damage the underlying structure and surrounding building elements. Transparent waterproofing offers a practical solution where the existing tiles are sound and suitable for overcoating.
Once applied, the coating forms a continuous protective film over the tile surface and grout joints, helping reduce water penetration while preserving the decorative finish.
However, damaged grout, movement joints and existing waterproofing defects must be assessed and repaired before application. A transparent coating should not be relied upon to repair structural cracks or major waterproofing failures.
Can Liquid Glass Be Used for Pool Waterproofing?
Swimming pools require waterproofing systems capable of withstanding continuous water immersion, water pressure and exposure to pool treatment chemicals.
Although transparent coatings may be suitable for certain water-exposed surfaces, their use inside swimming pools must be supported by specific technical approval for permanent immersion and the intended service conditions.
Existing cracks, defective joints and structural leaks should be repaired using appropriate waterproofing materials before any protective coating is applied.
Benefits of Transparent Waterproofing Over Existing Finishes
Transparent waterproofing combines surface protection with decorative preservation, making it particularly useful where removing existing tiles or stone finishes is undesirable.
Preserves Surface Appearance: The clear coating allows the original colour and pattern of the substrate to remain visible.
Seamless Protection: Creates a continuous protective layer without membrane overlaps or visible joints.
Reduced Renovation Work: Can help avoid unnecessary removal of sound existing finishes.
UV Resistance: Suitable formulations provide protection against sunlight exposure.
Practical Application: Can be applied using conventional coating equipment when the surface is correctly prepared.
Surface Durability: Helps protect compatible substrates against water exposure and everyday wear.
For long-term performance, the coating must be selected and applied according to the condition of the substrate and the expected service environment. On walking surfaces, slip resistance should also be assessed, particularly in wet conditions.
