Polyurethane Waterproofing Membrane – Water Block
Water Block is a single-component, liquid-applied polyurethane waterproofing membrane designed to protect roofs, terraces, balconies and wet areas against water ingress. It forms a seamless, flexible coating that accommodates normal substrate movement while providing strong adhesion to properly prepared surfaces. Its UV resistance, mechanical durability and water vapor permeability make it suitable for various exposed and protected waterproofing applications. The coating can also be applied to compatible construction substrates, including concrete, cement boards and existing tiles, with appropriate surface preparation and priming.

This liquid-applied polyurethane waterproofing membrane provides a flexible, seamless barrier against water ingress. Its single-component formulation allows straightforward application without mixing, while its strong adhesion and elastic properties help accommodate normal substrate movement. Suitable for a range of construction surfaces, it offers durable waterproofing protection for both new construction and renovation projects.

Advantages

  • Strong mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and elongation.
  • Good resistance to various chemical exposures.
  • Water vapor permeability that allows controlled moisture vapor diffusion through the cured membrane.
  • UV-resistant formulation suitable for appropriate exposed applications.
  • High thermal stability, with a maximum service temperature of 90°C and short-term thermal shock resistance up to 200°C, as specified in the technical data.
  • Maintains flexibility at temperatures as low as -40°C.
  • Forms a continuous, seamless waterproofing membrane.
  • Localized damage can be repaired using compatible repair and recoating procedures.

Application

Suitable for waterproofing and protection of:

  • Flat and pitched roofs.
  • Lightweight roofing structures made from metal or fiber cement.
  • Bathrooms and other wet areas.
  • Gypsum boards and cement-based panels.
  • Existing tiled surfaces with a compatible primer.
  • Asphaltic waterproofing membranes, subject to substrate compatibility.
  • Parking areas and stadium stands as part of appropriately designed waterproofing systems.

Application Guidelines

Application surfaces must be solid. The surface must have a compressive strength of 25N/mm² and at least 1,5N/mm² for adhesion test. The surface must be free of factors that will affect adhesion performance such as loose, dismantled or played concrete particles, oil and paint residues, cement grout residues. Apply at least two coats with a roller or brush. Wait 6-24 hours between coats.

The substrate must be structurally sound, clean and free from contaminants that could affect adhesion. Concrete surfaces should have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm² and a pull-off tensile strength of at least 1.5 N/mm².

Remove loose or deteriorated concrete, oil, grease, paint residues, cement laitance and other poorly adhered materials before application. Repair surface defects and apply a suitable primer where required.

Apply at least two coats using a brush or roller. Allow the first coat to dry sufficiently before applying the next, following the recommended recoating interval of approximately 12–24 hours under suitable conditions.

Warnings and Recommendations

Important: The membrane requires approximately 7 days to achieve full cure under recommended conditions. Protect the freshly applied coating from premature exposure to water, contamination and mechanical stress during curing.

Ensure adequate ventilation when working in enclosed spaces. Keep flammable materials and ignition sources away from the application area, and do not smoke during application.

Wear appropriate protective equipment, including safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice.

Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed handling and safety information. Keep the product out of reach of children. Professional application in accordance with the technical data sheet is recommended.
