Liquid glass; is a floor coating that can be applied to various surfaces such as ceramic, marble, tile, and concrete, providing insulation against chemical and physical effects. This two-component coating is used for both insulation and aesthetic purposes.

Liquid glass is very easy to apply and creates a transparent, thin glass layer on the surface after drying. This ensures effective waterproofing while giving the treated area an aesthetic appearance.
This application requires no primer and is resistant to UV rays. It is unaffected by harmful sunlight and also protects the surfaces it is applied to from these harmful effects, thereby increasing their lifespan.
How is Liquid Glass Applied?

Liquid glass consists of two different components named A and B. The components are measured according to the instructions and mixed in a clean container. The mixture is stirred properly and made ready for use.
The steps followed for applying liquid glass are as follows:
- First, the application surface is cleaned. Dirt, dust, rust, sediment, and similar residues are completely removed, ensuring no foreign matter remains between the surface and the liquid glass.
- After thorough cleaning, the mixture preparation begins. Since the working time of the mixture is approximately one hour, it is recommended to prepare it after cleaning.
- The floor temperature should be above 5°C, the ambient temperature between 15-35°C, and the humidity should not exceed 80% for optimal application.
- Once the conditions are suitable, the application starts. Depending on the size and type of the surface, a roller brush, regular paint brush, or spray gun can be used.
- After the first coat is completed, wait 24 hours before applying the second coat. For effective results, at least two coats are recommended.
There are different products for liquid glass coating, also known as transparent insulation. Each product may have different usage instructions, so it is very important to follow the product guidelines carefully. For example, GLASSY 100 uses 7 parts of component A and 1 part of component B. These ratios may vary for other products.
The application is quite simple but must be carried out very carefully and precisely. Small mistakes or negligence can prevent the desired outcome.
Areas of Use for Liquid Glass

Liquid glass is used in many areas due to its waterproof and transparent nature. The construction and building industry is one of the main sectors. It is commonly applied on balconies, terraces, bathrooms, pools, and other wet floors. Details for these applications are as follows:
1. Balcony and Terrace
Balconies and terraces are among the most exposed areas to external factors such as sunlight. In some regions of Turkey, intense summer sun, rain, snow, hail, and wind cause various problems on balconies and terraces. Surface deformation, color changes, and water leakage are among the most common issues.
Liquid glass coating acts as a shield between the surface and external factors. It protects without affecting the overall appearance of balconies and terraces. Its transparent look also provides a more aesthetic appearance.
Rain and snow on balconies and terraces increase the risk of water leakage. Leaks can damage the balcony, walls, and floors below. Liquid glass application significantly reduces this risk.
2. Bathroom
Wet floors such as bathrooms and toilets are other common application areas. These floors are usually tiled. When grout between tiles loses its properties, water seeps downwards. Early leakage may seem harmless, but over time it causes stains on ceilings, paint peeling, and plaster falling on lower floors, damaging the building.
Liquid glass ensures complete waterproofing while preserving the appearance of the tiles. It prevents damage caused by external factors and significantly extends the lifespan of tiles. The transparent and glossy finish also adds an aesthetic effect.
3. Pool
Pools are areas where waterproofing is most critical. Since they are constantly filled with water, even the smallest cracks can cause leaks. Liquid glass fills ceramic tiles, gaps between tiles, and small cracks, providing complete waterproofing and preventing major leakage problems.
4. Other Areas
Liquid glass can be used in any area requiring waterproofing and insulation, delivering similar results on all surfaces. It provides effective protection against external elements such as sun and rain. It is even known to be applied on some furniture due to this property.
Advantages of Using Liquid Glass

There are many advantages to liquid glass application. The main advantages include:
- Waterproofing: Provides complete impermeability on the applied surfaces. Liquid glass is water-repellent and fills even the smallest pores where water could penetrate, eliminating leakage risks entirely.
- Durability: Not only resistant to water but also to many physical and chemical external factors. It does not lose its structure or properties when exposed to impacts, scratches, or various chemicals.
- Aesthetic Appearance: Enhances the aesthetic look of the treated surfaces. Its glass-like appearance helps to hide imperfections.
- UV and Heat Resistance: Not adversely affected by harmful UV rays from the sun. It also protects against color fading and deterioration caused by UV rays. Additionally, it provides protection against heat generated by sunlight.
- Easy to Clean: Like glass, it is very easy to clean. Dust and dirt accumulated on the surface can be removed with simple cleaning methods, allowing users to enjoy easy maintenance.
- Eco-Friendly: This product consists of two different components that are not harmful to the environment and contain no toxic substances, making it safe to use.
- Application Areas: Suitable for balconies, bathrooms, terraces, pools, and many other areas.
These are the main features of liquid glass. However, depending on the application area and product chosen, these advantages may vary.
