Fireproof Paint
In order for these paints to be effective, it is of great importance to use the correct application methods. Proper cleaning of the surface, application of primer and creating a paint layer of the required thickness directly affect the performance. In addition, fireproof paints are produced in different classes and each of them offers different degrees of heat resistance. For this reason, the appropriate product should be selected by making a risk analysis of the area to be used. With the developing technology, some types of fireproof paints can provide both safety and decorative solutions by offering different colour and texture options in terms of aesthetics.
No Fire Paint Plus Fireproof Paint
Dryfix NO-FIRE PAINT PLUS is a fire-optimised, flame intumescent, intumescent, one-component, water-based, air-drying coating. It offers resistance against fire for 120 minutes. In order to protect structural steel from fire, it delays the spread of the heat generated in the environment and the heating of the surface to which it is applied. In this way, escape and evacuation time in case of fire is extended and the building can be safely evacuated.
No Fire Paint Plus swells and foams and expands in volume due to the high heat generated in a fire. The applied coating undergoes a physical and chemical process during the fire.
Product Features
- It is a non-flammable paint with fire retardant, non-flammable and late-heating, non-combustible paint.
- It has high adhesion power by perfectly harmonising with the surface.
- It shows superior adhesion performance to various surfaces such as concrete, steel and wood.
- It shows superior adhesion performance to various surfaces such as concrete, steel and wood.
- Prevents the spread of flames under direct flame contact.
- It prevents the spread of fire by absorbing the flames on itself.
- It offers high resistance against fire.
- Thanks to its paint form, it can reach even the smallest details of the applied surface.
- It provides a high degree of fire resistance with a seamless application.
Areas of Use
- It can be used effectively on walls and wooden surfaces in the interior of buildings.
- It is a suitable coating material for concrete and steel structures.
- It can be safely applied in restaurants, kitchens and roofs.
- Provides high performance in fire escapes and fire doors.
- It is used as passive fire protection for structural steel indoors. No Fire Paint Plus is applied on open profile beams, columns, cellular beams and hollow section beams.
- Steel profiles: Suitable for I, H type columns and beams.
- It is also suitable for use in other structures other than steel structures.
- It can be used on other metal and plaster and plastered surfaces where non-flammability is required.
Application Instruction
Before applying the product, the steel surface should be mechanically cleaned with scrapers and abrasive machines to prepare the surface.
Sandblasting method should be used to remove residues that may prevent the paint from adhering on the steel.
Oil, etc. strong cleaning products and pressurised water can be used to remove residues.
Primer Use
Since No Fire Paint Plus is a water-based paint, applying it directly on steel surfaces will cause oxidation. Therefore, the steel surface to be painted must first be primed with Dryfix Anti Corrosive Primer, a two-component, epoxy zinc phosphate-based primer. If the application surface is plaster or rendered, Dryfix Binder 100 Primer should be used.
Paint Usage
- Application method: Airless machine or brush
- Thinner: max 3% water can be added
- Nozzle opening for airless: 0.017’ – 0.023’
- Nozzle pressure for Airless: 200 bar [2900 psi]
- Surface temperature: +5 to +35°C
- Relative Humidity: < 80%
Paint film thickness is determined according to the steel type and the desired durability period by using the product performance table. Then the determined thickness is applied in layers.
Important Information
- The dimensions specified in the project regarding the thickness should be checked with paint dry film thickness measuring devices.
- If the thickness does not reach the one selected from the performance table, the inadequate areas should be marked and re-applied.
- Careful attention should be paid to the use of primer.
- Dryfix Anti Corrosive should be used.
- Deficiency in the primer cannot close the steel to air passage and the risk of oxidation arises.
- After the paint application is completed, protect the surface from rain, water, mechanical loads and impacts for 24 hours.
- Never leave water on the paint for a long time, do not pond water.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during application.
- Wash all tools and equipment with clean water after application.
